Safety Measures & Refund Policy Updates on Our Food Tours in Penang during COVID-19
Hello, friends! Malaysia has gotten the COVID-19 situation under control and now we’re back to daily life under the new normal. After a 3 month hiatus, we’ve started hosting food tours in George Town again. Of course, we want to make sure the experience is as safe & comfortable for you as it is fun and informative. So here’s an update on the safety measures and steps we’re taking to protect you during our lunch and dinner food tours in George Town, Penang.
Social Distancing & Hygiene during Your Food Tour
We made sure it’s safe to do food tours and the Malaysian government has outlined further steps to ensure safety and prevent any future recurrence of COVID-19:
Temperature checks before entering restaurants and other business venues
Digital or written check-in of all guests and customers for contact tracing
Social distancing rules in restaurants, businesses and food venues
All the hand sanitiser, all the time, everywhere
Masks are currently mandatory in public spaces. You’re encouraged to bring your own reusable masks and your host will instruct you on how to remove and store them during our stops.
We’ll guide you through each of these on the food tour, so if you have any questions or concerns just let us know.
Very Small Group Sizes Only and Private Tour Options
We’ll only take a maximum of 4 persons on each tour. We’ll make an exception for families but this will depend on the current social distancing rules in effect.
We’ve always been interested in unique, intimate experiences. Before COVID-19, our maximum group size was 6 persons to ensure that everyone got the best food tour experience in Penang. Now, we’ve reduced it further to 4 persons for the time being as a safety precaution.
If you’re a solo traveler, you can still book our food tours and we will host you even if you’re the only person on the tour.
For couples and small groups of 2 - 3 persons, there might be one or two other people on the tour with you. As mentioned above, social distancing and special hygiene measures reduce any COVID-19 risk to almost zero. We only run our food tours when we’re sure it’s safe for everyone.

We’ve Updated our Refund Policy for COVID-19 related Quarantines, Lock-downs & Cancellations
Long story short:
You will receive a full refund if you have to cancel your trip or tour due to COVID-19 related quarantines, lock-downs or travel bans.
If you’re not feeling well and want to do the responsible thing by self-isolating or getting medical attention, you can also request to reschedule or refund your tour.
